Delegation of Milan Municipality visits SPCCD

In the morning of November 22, Cristina Tajani, Deputy Mayor of Milan, and Marika Bazzani from International Relations Bureau of the Mayor's Office visited Shanghai Promotional Center for City of Design (hereinafter referred to "SPCCD"). Ruan Li, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, and leaders from the Office for Foreign Economic Development Coordination and Urban Industry Department attended the meeting. Zhang Zhan, president of SPCCD , and Luo Zhiwei,director of SPCCD also attended.

 

 

Luo Zhiwei introduced the construction background of Shanghai as City of Design, development of Shanghai design industry, and function of SPCCD, and the achievement that SPCCD has made in Sino-Italian cooperation. He also introduced the project of Sino-Italian Cultural and Creative Cooperation and Exchange Center (hereinafter referred to as "Sino-Italian Center") in Shanghai. In the future, he plans to organize Shanghai design universities, designers and corporate brands to Milan, and to carry out series of design exchange activities.

 

Cristina Tajani, Deputy Mayor of Milan, praised and affirmed the achievements made by SPCCD in Sino-Italian design cooperation and exchanges, and thanked Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization for supporting the design exchange project between two cities; and gave high expectation to the further cooperation between Shanghai and Milan in institutions, universities, designers and brands in the fields of fashion and design. She hopes that the Sino-Italian Center could become a carrier and promotor of the design resources from two cities, and become a platform for deeper cooperation and communication.

 

Ruan Li, Deputy Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, said that Shanghai Municipal Government is committed to promoting the construction of City of Design, City of Fashion and City of Brand in Shanghai. Shanghai and Milan have lots of chance for cooperation in design and fashion. He hoped that with the support and promotion from the government of both cities, more and better cooperation projects will occur in the future.

 

Zhang Zhan expressed his gratitude to Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and Milan Municipal Government for their long-term support for SPCCD. With the support from the governments of Shanghai and Milan, SPCCD will take the keep pushing the construction of Sino-Italian Center and Shanghai Milan Creative Economic Cooperation and Development Center, and continue to promote the design exchange and cooperation between Shanghai and Milan, China and Italy.

 

 

Later, Ms. Tajani visited the Sino-Italian Center, which is co-constructed by SPCCD and Shanghai Polytechnic University. Yu Tao, Principal of Shanghai Polytechnic University, Xu Yufang, Deputy Principal of Shanghai Polytechnic University, Lin Xiaoying, Director of Jing'an District Commercial Committee and Yu Hongmei, Deputy Director of Jing'an District Commercial Committee accompanied the Milan delegation to visit the center. They had an in-depth conversation with Ms. Tajani on strengthening Sino-Italian design industry cooperation. Both sides expressed the expectation for more interaction and cooperation in design industry between Shanghai and Milan in the future.
